Aromatherapy for pregnant women with caution!
Aromatherapy uses essential oils whose main therapeutic properties are known scientifically. They are volatile substances extracted from aromatic medicinal plants with a very complex chemical composition.
As they are highly concentrated, they should be used and dosed properly. They are generally safe provided they are administered properly.
In both pregnancy and lactation, there is a long list of contraindicated essential oils. It is necessary to discard mainly the mint (except the mint bergamot), officinal salvia, rosemary camphor, ruda, tuya, officinal swab, cantueso, cinnamon, palmarosa, clove or nutmeg. But the list goes on and some are potentially neurotoxic and / or abortifacient if used in high amounts or on a prolonged basis.
Special attention must therefore be paid to safety. It is preferable not to use an essential oil if you are not sure of its safety.
I encourage you to seek and follow the advice of an aromatherapy professional, to use only essential oils safe in pregnancy and with better results.
